The Best Events in London this Winter

With so much to do and see in London this Christmas period, what’s worth getting wrapped up for and heading out, or better off staying home and getting cosy? Here’s our Top 6 events!


Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – Until 29th Jan 2017

Winter has arrived at Hogwarts. Glittering Christmas trees line the Great Hall and a replica festive feast including flaming Christmas puddings is laid out on the long tables.

Special-effect fires roar in the fireplaces, the Gryffindor common room is filled with Christmas treats and the detailed castle model is covered in a special blanket of snow.

Christmas gifts, including Harry’s Invisibility Cloak and Molly Weasley’s hand-knitted jumpers, are also put out on display.

Take an enchanting journey into a glittering wonderland with Christmas at Kew at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew.

Hear the choir of Christmas trees sing before going through the carpet of swaying lights and scented garden of blazing fires. Admire the giant crystals, colour-changing reed and crystal flowers art installations that glow into the night.

Pass through the sparkling tunnel of dancing lights and sing along to classic Christmas tunes with the karaoke jukebox.

Relive the golden years of car motoring with The London Classic Car Show 2017 at ExCeL London, and enjoy complimentary access to a new co-located show, Historic Motorsport International.

Southbank Centre – Until 25th Jan 2017

See Southbank Centre transformed into a wintry Nordic landscape this festive season, complete with a giant Norwegian tree, Scandinavian decorations, a bustling market, twinkling lights and a host of seasonal events.

The annual festival offers a packed programme of free and ticketed events for all ages – from world-class theatrical performances and festive concerts, to social dances and community choirs.

There is also plenty of Christmas shopping and seasonal food and drinks to be enjoyed, as well as family activities to keep the children entertained.


Streets of Central London – 1st Jan 2017

Watch the spectacular New Year’s Day Parade along the streets of Central London this New Year’s Day.

Every year, dancers, acrobats, cheerleaders, marching bands, historic vehicles and more assemble in the heart of the capital for a colourful celebration of contemporary performances and traditional pomp and ceremony.

Parade route: which runs from Green Park Tube station at 12pm, to Parliament Square at around 3.30pm, via Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall.
